Prototype PCBA
Prototype PCB assembly from a single board
First builds exist to find problems, so every prototype ships with the DFM findings, the placement photos and the test result, not just a box of boards.
Service window
| Parameter | Scope |
|---|---|
| Batch size | 1–50 pcs |
| Fabrication | 24 / 48 / 72-hour lanes for 1–6 layer boards |
| Assembly time | 3–5 working days after parts arrive |
| Sourcing | Turnkey, partial or consigned; hand-carried parts accepted with a kit list |
| Test | 100% AOI, X-ray on BGA, continuity check; FCT if you supply a test plan |
| Feedback | DFM report, first-article photos, solder joint close-ups on request |
| Revisions | Board revisions tracked separately so builds are never mixed |
What we check before building
Footprint versus part
Pad geometry and pin count are compared against the purchased part, the most common cause of a scrapped first build.
Polarity and orientation
Silkscreen, centroid rotation and datasheet pin 1 are cross-checked before placement, not after.
Assembly clearances
Tooling holes, edge keep-out and connector interference are reviewed while a fix still costs nothing.
Where it fits
First article
The build that validates the schematic and the layout together for the first time.
Design iterations
Short cycles where each revision needs the same process so results stay comparable.
Demo and certification units
Small, documented builds for customer demos, EMC pre-scans and lab submissions.
Prototype FAQ
- Can you assemble one board?
- Yes. Single-board builds are quoted the same way; the setup cost simply dominates the unit price at that quantity.
- Can I ship my own components?
- Yes. Send a kit list with the parcel; we count on arrival and report any shortage before scheduling the line.
- Do prototypes get the same test coverage?
- AOI and X-ray coverage is identical. Functional test needs a plan or a jig from you, or we can quote building one.
- How do I move a prototype into production?
- The cleared BOM, stencil and program carry forward, so a low-volume or mid-volume release reuses the same setup.
